I’ve been thinking a lot about softness lately.
What it means.
What it doesn’t mean.
And why it’s been so hard to access, especially in the current world.
Because softness right now doesn’t mean turning away.
It means turning toward, while still protecting your peace.
Softness in a World That Feels So Sharp
The past few weeks have left me heavy-hearted.
Here in Los Angeles, a peaceful protest—meant to express love, justice, and solidarity—was twisted into a political tool.
A moment of shared care was used to incite division and fear.
Not by the people gathering, but by those who benefit from chaos.
It reminded me again:
We are living in a time where compassion is radical.
Where community is resistance.
Where choosing softness is not passive—it’s protective.
And still—so many of us are exhausted.
This Is What Overstimulation Feels Like
You don’t have to be at the center of the chaos to feel it in your bones.
This is what chronic overstimulation does:
You’re carrying the grief of the world and the pressure of your inbox.
You’re toggling between news cycles and your next Zoom call.
You’re caring deeply and trying to stay regulated—but your body is telling a different story.
Mine has been.
So I’ve been coming back to softness.
But not the curated, perfectly still kind.
The real kind.
Messy, loving, imperfect softness.
What Softness Looks Like For Me Right Now
– Canceling plans without guilt
– Crying on the phone with a friend
– Sitting in the sun for 20 minutes, no productivity required
– Letting my body lead how I move (read: really, really gently)
– Finding pockets of meaning—especially in community
Even when it feels small, I remind myself:
This is how we begin to regulate.
This is how we start to come home to ourselves.
It doesn’t undo injustice.
It doesn’t fix burnout in a day.
But it gives me a place to land.
And that’s something.
That’s Why We Created a Soft Space for You, Too
If you’ve been feeling the weight of the world and the noise of everyday life…
If you’re tired of being “resilient” and just want to feel safe...
You’re invited to join us for a community space that honors softness as a strength.
🕊️ Recharge Room: A Soft Space for the Overstimulated
📅 Monday, June 16 @ 5 PM PT
💻 Free on LinkedIn Live
✨ RSVP here
Together, we’ll explore:
– What overstimulation does to your nervous system
– How burnout, illness, and trauma shape our stress response
– Gentle, sensory-based self-regulation tools you can actually use
– And how to reconnect to yourself in the process
No perfection required.
Just a place to exhale.
We care for all, so we can care for one.
Tearing communities apart will always be an atrocity.
And still, it’s one our species repeats—generation after generation.
But we can write a different story.
And it starts in soft spaces.
Come be with us on June 16.
Let’s practice what it means to care, together.
